Well today saw me at the BBC studios of Oxford radio, where I was interviewed by the delightful Jo Thoenes for her afternoon show talking about my career to date, from how I started in the industry of Make up and Hair Artistry to present day with my ever growing teams of Artists throughout the UK, Scotland, Ireland and Wales and my PA work to Lionel Richie....
What a great show, and how quick it went, the 30 minute slot flew by, by hopefully entertained a few listeners along the way... For anyone who missed the show and cares to listen please click on the link below (move curser until it passes approx 1hr 10 minutes into the show, where I begin)
With the onset of many Asian Weddings and my Master Classes for the Asian market unfolding as I type, I was delighted to meet the lovely Susie (also recently titled Domestic Goddess!) of 'Karma Kars Cotswold' at the delightful Country House/Restaurant/Hotel of Fossebridge Inn where we were welcomed by Samantha & Abby.
Susie launched her stunning service to the wedding industry in January of this year (2011), also supplying her gorgeous 1950's Vintage Ambassador Car to the film & TV industry, for shoots and also Advertising Campaigns. Her success is apparent with many brides securing the gem of a car for their special day... a bejeweled bride needs a bejeweled Kar!
The interior glistens with delicate red and gold fabric and jewels, and both bumpers are festooned with exotic flowers - a true eye catcher, chic, elegant and certainly fun...
We have some great ideas up our sleeves for events, shoots, weddings etc, which I look forward to blogging about soon...
For a delightful Cream tea, lunch, drinks by the lake, dinner or even a classical concert I can't recommend highly enough the beautiful 'Fossebridge Inn' in the Cotswolds, where our meeting took place. A warm welcome was had by all thanks to Samantha and Abby - Great Coffee ladies! Rocket Coffee rocks...
I was delighted when I received a call from Mary (Lee Herrington) from Forever & Ever Eventsto see if one of our girls from the team would like to do a shoot in Bloomsbury at the Bowling Lanes with 2 of my favorite designers Edwina Ibbotson and Delphine Manivets Now Amy (Brandon) one of our Artists is a true Ambassador for all that is fun, quirky, chic, stylish and retro. She took the shoot with open arms and here is the evidence!! 'Delightful'.....
Following her extremely successful 4 Day Intensive Make up & Hair Master Class with me in January , Maritza, who is based in Manchester has since gone on to create some sensational pieces of work, a selection of which I wanted to showcase here. This is what can be achieved, with determination, passion, creativity and most importantly a VISION ! I am very proud of what Maritza has achieved over the past few months, working hard day and night on many test shoots both studio and location, she is one bright star in the making and proud to say we have her as part of the team.
My amazing team and I were very proud to be apart of Altar-ed Events Vintage Bridal Tea Party held at the exquisite location of Dartmouth House near Berkeley Square. A stunning backdrop of ornate ceilings and fireplaces adorned the venue. Ladies were welcomed to the sounds of the harp as they enjoyed high tea whilst surrounded by Vintage inspired floral displays by the talented team at Wild About Weddings - www.wild-about.com that were pride of place in the centre of the tables in items that included: vases, bird cages and cake stands! Vintage crockery dressed the tables courtesy of The Vintage Table - www.thevintagetable.co.uk. The evening was captured on film by photogrpahy Shell de Mar - www.shelldemar.com and videography by I do Films - www.i-do-films.co.uk. Everyone left the evening with a scrumptious delicate Cup Cake courtesy of Restoration Cakes - www.restorationcake.co.uk
Following the high tea I demonstrated a modern day take on the classic 40's/50's screen heroine look, creating emphasis on the eyes before the team and I showed various techniques for mastering the look the ladies desired for their wedding day on one to one sessions at the tables...
Thanks to my amazing team and assistants: Amy, Mel, Cherie, Holly, Cat, Elle, Christina, Jenna, Haylie,
The evening was a huge success and we look forward to many more events with Altar-ed.
Two of the most amazing actors and gentlemen I have had the privilege to work with over the many years working on Film & TV press days - thanks to the great team at Icon Films. Monday 2oth to Wednesday 22nd were firmly booked in the diary to be on hand for the 3 days of Premier,Press, Interview, and TV... Day one was the premier held at The British Film Institute at the South Bank, London which was a huge success. The evening kicked off with a press line up for all the lovely tabloids and then a Q & A's session in the theatre before everyone sat back to watch the delights of the movie. Day 2 was a morning of interviews from everyone from Love Film to Empire Magazine, followed by 'The One Show' late afternoon...great interview! Day 3 was a brief photo shoot down at Soho Hotel before it was time to say farewell as they continued their promotional trip to Dublin...
Well it seems such a long time ago since we all felt some sunshine, and so looking back over the Summer images, I came across a great image of Nicole and Lionel on our trip we did to Palma, in Majorca for the hilarious German TV show 'Wetten Das'! The show was filmed in the amphitheater there, with lots of crazy goings on - it ended with Mr Richie on the back of a donkey no less, as he lost a prediction in one of the games a contestant was playing, against Nicole and the forfeit being a donkey ride!
Nicole wore a stunning Kaftan dress from her collection 'Winter Kate' together with her own hair jewelry.
For Nicole's Makeup I used:
-Eyes by 'NARS' in 'Daphne' a deep Violet
-Highlighted in the corner of the eyes by the nose with 'NARS' 'D.Gorgeous' a matte dusky Lilac stunning shades and tones that were picked out from the silk she wore.
-'MAC' black 'Smoulder' Kohl pencil inside the eye lid at the bottom
- A very light dusting of Mineral powder foundation by 'The Green People' in 'Caramel'
-With a hint of 'MAC' 'Strobe Cream' on the cheek bones, brow and lightly down the nose, to give an over all gently glow
- Followed by 'NARS' 'Madly' on the cheeks - a seashell pink, gorgeous
-Lips were ''NARS' 'Belize'
For Nicole's Hair:
I used my all time favorite 'TOTALLY BEACHIN' Body and Waves styling spary by TIGI who I've been using for years. Its one of the best products I have found and worked with over the past year. It helps add texture without weighing down the hair, brushes out to enable the next hair design to follow if needed, and in this case it created a tousled yet styled look full of movement and volume, that I created from spraying into the hair all over and then curling sections slightly to give a little definition. It comes with scent of Coconut too!
